David McDermott

David McDermott is a NZ-qualified landscape architect who has worked in Aotearoa New Zealand land-based industries for over 20 years. He started his career working in amenity horticulture, landscape construction & site management, before undertaking study to broaden his scope to landscape ecology, catchment restoration, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. David carries extensive practical knowledge of native & exotic plants, and of their role in supporting diverse, abundant & resilient landscapes. David is an experienced project strategist and facilitator who holds qualifications in landscape architecture, business management & organisational leadership.

Miriam

Miriam Hafner

Miriam Hafner is a NZ-qualified ecologist, plant expert and food gardener with a lifelong passion for healthy living and wild places. Miriam was raised in rural Austria where she
acquired her deep connection to mountains, farms, rivers & lakes. She travelled solo to NZ in 2000, where she thrust herself into off-grid living and commercial food-forestry. Miriam’s natural ability in analysis and writing saw her awarded a scholarship in Wellington, where she studied sciences, before eventually settling with her young family in Whangārei. Miriam is skilled in research and literature review, while her practical understanding of terrestrial biodiversity & regenerative
production keeps her connected to the water and soil.
